Foot and Anckle:

Tips and recommendations

Take care of your feet. A series of habits is very important, since it will enhance your current health and in future will be beneficial to the state of your feet and ankles.

Footwear.

We use shoes to protect our feet and prevent injury, but to be effective they must fit well, shoes that do not fit, or are too narrow, small or large are uncomfortable, and hurt and deformed the feet .

When choosing a shoe, we often considered aesthetics as important. From a practical point of view, they should be durable and provide protection and support to the feet, but above all be comfortable. Keep in mind that it must adapt to the shape of the foot, not the foot that should adapt to the shoe.

If we try to fit the foot into an inadequate shoe, we will end up with pain, blisters and calluses that may be temporary, but that eventually can become permanent.

Recommendations for footwear

  1. The foot can vary in size, ask the shoes salesperson to measure the length and width of the foot.
  2. The foot widens when under weight therefore stand when they measure your foot.
  3. The feet swell and widen throughout the day, measure your feet at the end of the day.
  4. The shoes you buy should fit well when the foot is widened and lengthened, however if there is too much space in the toe of the shoe, the foot will slide and form blisters and scrapes.
  5. The shoe must fit well not only on the toe but also at the heel. Make sure the heel does not protrude from the back of the shoe.
  6. Walk with the new shoes and make sure they are comfortable and fit the shape of your foot.
  7. Do not choose the shoe by number alone, a size10 of one brand or style can be smaller or larger than the same size 10 of another brand or style. Buy the shoe that fits well.
  8. Measure your feet regularly, the size changes as the years pass.
  9. If you feel the shoe fits too tight, do not buy them, there is not a period of "molding shoe" the foot can stretch it, but it will cause pain and injury.
  10. If one foot is much larger than the other, place an insert in the shoe of the smaller foot.
  11. You can be stylish and comfortable too.

How to choose men's shoes?

Men's shoes adapt to the shape of the foot: have enough horizontal, vertical and toe space, have a low heel (usually about half an inch high). The soles are made of hard or smooth material like leather or crepe; however, softer soled shoes tend to be more comfortable if you must stand for long periods.

How to choose women's shoes?

The ideal shoes are low-heeled (an inch or less), with a wide toe that accommodates the front of the foot well.

High heels and pointy shoes cause many orthopedic problems, are uncomfortable, hurt the toes, ankles, knees, calves and back. Most high heels are pointed and narrow, that make the toes come together into an uncomfortable triangular position. These shoes distribute the body's weight unevenly, place too much weight on the front of the foot and toes, this uneven distribution along with the triangular position of the toes, makes the person uncomfortable, feel pain and end up with hammer toes and other deformities.

The height of the heels is very important; the pressure that you feel on the foot can be doubled, the higher the heel, the more pressure you feel. If low-heeled shoes do not fit properly, they can cause problems and over time you can end up with permanent deformations.

How to choose an athletic shoe?

Athletic shoes are used to protect the feet from certain pressures that develop when playing sports, these give more traction to the athlete; for example footwear used to run is different from that used for aerobics. There are various designs, a variety of material, weight, type of laces and other factors that tend to protect the feet.

The most important aspect is that the shoe is comfortable, if the shoe fits well it will reduce blistering or any other skin irritation.
